The New South Wales Wheelchair Rugby League (NSWWRL) seeks to be the governing body for Wheelchair Rugby League in New South Wales and is a member of Wheelchair Rugby League Australia Incorporated.

It was established as a non-for-profit sporting organisation for people with disabilities on the 25th September 2009 and was known as the incorporated entity until October 2010 when the National Sporting Organisation Wheelchair Rugby League Australia was formed.

The New South Wales Wheelchair Rugby League was responsible for the introduction of a Wheelchair Rugby League Tag competition into Australia in September 2010. Since that time the NSWWRL has built awareness at all levels of the game with aspirations to grant disabled athletes opportunities within Rugby League.

The first Wheelchair Rugby League Tag game in New South Wales was played in 2004, in which Australia defeated France in a three game series.

Wheelchair Rugby League is not just be for people with disabilities. Like the other competing nations, we are encouraging non-disabled athletes to compete as well. This has proved quite successful overseas in building initial numbers/teams while also offering a level-playing-field for both types of athletes, which is something not many other sports have the ability to offer.

Our mission is to provide balanced and fair Wheelchair Rugby League competitions. We recognise that there is more than one form of Wheelchair Rugby League available; International Tag Rules and Local Touch Rules. Our aim is to host competitions for both versions across New South Wales.
